International womens day

I saw this fabulous image on Planoly’s International Womens Day article today and I was struck by how much this beautiful work spoke to me of collaboration over competition and how I believe in this in every aspect.

For it to be true collaboration though it means crediting all those involved fairly; their ideas shared, expertise given and time invested. It means equal pay attributed to roles regardless of who the individual is that fulfilled that element. It means viewing everyone participating as an equal; giving everyone the same opportunity to have a voice and listening to what’s being said no matter who in that collaboration is saying it…

We’re not quite there yet. There is strong momentum though and passion behind that drive in the direction needed.

So until we can enjoy collaboration at its truest, let’s stand strong together as women and raise each other up.

Let’s raise our girls to know that they are worthy of dreaming as big as their male peers and that they must always dare to try! And let’s raise our boys to know that gender does not entitle and must never limit.

Happy international women’s day everyone and from me, especially to all of the fabulous women in my life that lift me up everyday 💜 my mum, my mother-in-law, my sisters-in-law, my nieces, my girl friends (near and far), my goddaughter, my friends in my local community that I’m proud to be part of, my gorgeous dance group gals, please keep doing what you’re doing 💜 xx Images by Bridget Badore, Photographer; Illustrations by Cristina Martinez I truly hope you won’t mind me using your image as reference, I just simply love it! 💋 #repost image #iwd2019#internationalwomensday#balanceforbetter#stronggirlsclub#collaborationovercompetition#breaktheglassceiling

  1. A beautiful and inspirational post. Its easy to forget that collaboration and competition can compliment eachother. I think of cycling, and the pellaton, where everyone works together as a single entity to reach a common objective and individuals compete for their speciality titles (sprint, king of the mountains, etc). Lets all focus on collaboration to lift everyone higher.
