Replicating of the sound wave of the recipients name made this modern quilt a truly unique milestone birthday gift.

When I started drafting the pattern for this quilt, I knew that I wanted show these stunning fabrics off in long staggered strips; using the sound wave of their name provided the perfect balance and backdrop for these beautiful materials designed by Artist Libs Elliott and NYC Quilter Giuseppe A. Ribaudo.

A section from a private piece created as and anniversary, commissioned by the celebrating couple.

Layering multi textured fabrics & the use of free motion machine embroidery, gave an illustrated feel to the art; here the sewing machine is used to sketch the image in thread and the materials are used to add colour & depth.

Inspired by the motif template by the talented Miriam from Slow Evenings Embroidery published in issue 2 of the Love Embroidery magazine
